The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger and of great mercy. Psalm 145:8
Compassion is a combination of mercy and kindness, demonstrating itself with a desire to free those who are suffering.
The Lord’s compassion comforts those in need, or who may be suffering, when they seek Him with their whole mind and heart.
The Bible declares regarding the Creator:
“According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions.” (Psalm 51:1)
“He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion.” (Psalm 111:4)
“Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.” (Psalm 103:13)
“When Jesus went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:14)
“Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.” (Matthew 20:34)
“Seeing the people, Jesus felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36)
