Around His Throne

There was a radiance around Him, as the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day.   Ezekiel 1:28

The Bible declares “that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.”   (1 John 1:5)   The entire light spectrum was brought forth when He spoke it into existence by the word of His mouth.   “And God said, ‘Let there be light: and there was light.   And God saw the light, that it was good.'”   (Genesis 1:3-4)

When God created light, He created what is referred to as the electromagnetic spectrum, which is the range of all electromagnetic energy.   Visible light, which is captured in the colors of a rainbow, is a small part of God’s incredible creation.

The Electromagnetic Spectrum

God’s creation is full of light and color because it is a reflection of Him.   Around Him is a radiance “as the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day.”   (Ezekial 1:28)   “There was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.”   (Revelation 4:3)

A rainbow is caused by both the reflection and refraction of light within droplets of water.   When sunlight enters water droplets, a percentage of the light is reflected and refracted (bent) at the correct angle to the observer’s line of sight to create of spectrum of light.   This phenomenon is the same that occurs when a prism refracts light and paints a rainbow on a wall.   A single primary rainbow always displays purple on the inside, with red on the outside.   The colors of the second bow of a double rainbow are reversed with red on the inside and purple on the outside.

A rainbow is a work of art testifying to the genius and skill of our awesome Creator.   It should also remind us of the majestic splendor that surrounds Him and His throne.
