His Throne

Over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone.   Ezekiel 1:26

The most visible colors in nature are blue and green, the colors of the heavens and the green vegetation of earth.   The Bible compares the radiance of the throne of God to a sapphire stone (some versions say lapis lazuli), a  precious stone of intense deep blue color.   This deep blue color may be seen at times by peering at the blue sky or a body of water on a clear day.

The Bible also states that “the throne of God is ablaze with flames and that a river of fire flows and comes out from before Him.”   (Daniel 7:9-10)   “From the throne proceed flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder.”   (Revelation 4:5)   “A river of the water of life, clear as crystal, comes from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street.   And on either side of the river is the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit.”   (Revelation 22:1-2)

The Bible declares

“He makes the clouds His chariot and walks upon the wings of the wind.”   (Psalm 104:3)

Thus saith the Lord, “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool.”   (Isaiah 66:1)

“The voice of Thy thunder was in the heaven and Thy lightnings lightened the world.”   (Psalm 77:18)

“The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the people see His glory.”   (Psalm 97:6)

“The LORD hath prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom ruleth over all.”   (Psalm 103:19)
