Beauty for Ashes

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.   Psalm 30:5

Nature contains many instances of beauty in places of desolation; and beauty that has come forth out of death.   At first glance, a desert appears desolate, but upon closer look, there is an abundance of color, life and beauty.   Petrified logs, the result of judgment and death in Noah’s day, illustrate the beauty that is possible for those who are in the Lord Jesus Christ at the time of death.

Jesus declared that His mission in part was:   “…to comfort all who mourn, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”   (Isaiah 61:2-3)

God says of His word:   “My word shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please… Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree.”   (Isaiah 55:11,13)

“When this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written:   Death is swallowed up in victory.”  (1 Corinthians 15:54)
