Ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace:
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12
Trees are an amazing creation, brought forth by the Creator on Day 3 of the Creation week. According to a comprehensive study by the Botanical Gardens Conservation International there are more than 60,000 species of trees in the world.
Trees beautify landscapes, provide food and medicinal products, wood for building things, fuel for heating and oxygen for breathing. Their leaves purify the air while providing a home for nesting birds and many other animals.
The Bible uses trees to illustrate spiritual truths:
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life. (Proverbs 15:4)
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. (Psalm 92:12)
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. (Isaiah 61:3)
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Psalm 1:1-3)
